Uncaging Music: Support for Border Detainees

Sunday, August 25, 2019 by Rylin Erickson | Uncategorized

Hi Students,

We're *on* for near-weekly busking in support of border detainees starting this Saturday, August 31st!

When: most Saturdays 2-3pm (all except for 9/7)

Where: Community Market in Sebastopol

Who: all current students of all ages/levels!

Sign up in our online portal to perform on whichever dates work for you. Any performance-ready pieces are welcome, so dig through your materials! (We'll be bringing a smaller than full size electric piano so take that into account when choosing pieces if you play piano.) I'd also love for all participating students to share their "why" in the form of a picture and/or writing (standard paper size, please, so I can keep it in sheet protectors).

***I'd be eternally grateful if someone is willing to make us a weather-resistant sign! Contact me if you'd like to be that person.*** UPDATE: HUGE THANKS TO INSIGHT SIGNS AND GRAPHICS FOR DONATING OUR BEAUTIFUL PROFESSIONAL SIGN!

See our Facebook event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/392128494776939/?event_time_id=392128498110272&ti=as -- please share with your friends and family! Ask people who donate online to share the amount with me if they're willing so I can add it to our running total.

Thanks so much!

Hi Students,

It's almost that time! Our ensembles are sounding absolutely lovely and I know you're going to have a wonderful time watching/performing together.

COMMUNITY POTLUCK & ENSEMBLE RECITAL
Where: the backyard at 2028 Creekside Rd. 95405
When: Saturday, August 17th, 2019
Students arrive at 10am for tuning/warmup
Concert starts at 10:30am

Join us for an unforgettable morning of chamber music! Our students range in age from 3yo to adult, beginner to advanced, and play strings, piano, and recorder in a variety of genres, from classical standards to Celtic fiddle to popular tunes. Everyone is invited to stay afterward for a celebratory potluck lunch!

New students who will be starting with us this fall, we'd love to have you come if you are able! Our one-of-a-kind community is very welcoming, and it can be nice for incoming students to get a preview of what our performances are like.

If you'd like to share the event with Facebook friends/family, here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/events/485098808702073/?ti=as

Please bring:

- your instrument (piano students exempt)

- any accessories used (bow, shoulder rest, footrest, etc.)

- any sheet music you might need

- food/beverages to share (label for common food allergies such as wheat, nuts, dairy; include your name on reusable dishes)

- blankets/chairs to sit on

- wear whatever you feel comfortable playing in!

I can't wait to share the magic of these small ensembles with you! See you Saturday!
